I made myself cupcakes last week for my birthday. Maybe that’s weird, but I’m not a big cake person so when I crave it, I only want my favorite recipe, not store-bought. These always get rave reviews. It’s vanilla cake - super moist and rich with plenty of butter and eggs, the recipe is from an old Martha Stewart show from a bakery in NYC (not one of the famous ones) - with a super simple, not-too-sweet dark chocolate buttercream.
