Every berry season, I decide I am going to be one of those people who can things. CANNING, YES! And then every year, I decide it’s too much work to acquire the proper items and spend an entire day actually doing it. And then I taste other people’s canned things, and I’m all “I can do this!” and “Why don’t I do this?” And the cycle continues.

“It’s about that time of year when the canning trend pieces start popping up in newspapers and everyone starts thinking about getting on the preserving train but never really does. (Well, by “everyone” I mean casually crafty urban-dwelling young women?)”
YES! That’s totally me. This is a great guide to canning for people like me. It’s seems ridiculously easy, right?
Then again, I feel like if everyone cans, what’s the point? All these articles always tout gifts of jam as THE BEST THING EVER. But it is not if everyone can make their own jarred foodstuffs. Which they can!
